DLC Recap

This past weekend, Pi chapter members traveled to Rosemont, Illinois with other members of Alpha Delta Pi from District IV to attend the District Leadership Conference. The officers had a busy, but jam-packed weekend of interacting with other chapters and Alpha Delta Pi officers to exchange ideas, tips & tricks. All of the executive members attended, along with other positions including Formal Recruitment Chair, Philanthropy Chair, Scholarship Chair and New Member Coordinator. Kristina Ginther, Laura Jolesch and Sam Danielson, three advisors of Pi Chapter, also attended the conference to learn more about their roles as well.

On Saturday, there was a general session with all the chapters from District IV. This general session included information about risk management, Alpha Delta Pi programming, and creating an inclusive sisterhood. Afterwards, the individual sessions began where officers attended their specific sessions for their position.

“We were able to share ideas with similar chapters and make connections with those who hold our positions,” Maddi Nietfeldt, Recruitment and Marketing Vice President, said.

That night, sisters attended “The Night at the Alphies,” the awards ceremony for the conference. It was like a sisterhood for all the chapters in attendance because they were able to get dressed up, have a photoshoot, and be with one another for a fun night.

On Sunday, there were additional breakout sessions. In one of the sessions, our Formal Recruitment Chair and Recruitment and Marketing Vice President presented about all things Spirit Week. Spirit week at Pi Chapter is the week before recruitment where the entire chapter gets the members and facility ready for recruitment, while also spending quality time with one another. Towards the end of the day, Pi Chapter was awarded the Spirit Award - for you guessed it - having the most spirit.

The conference is important for Pi Chapter and other chapters because it helps reassure the hard work our officers are putting in is effective and beneficial.

Nietfeldt said, “DLC is a great reminder for how grateful we are to have this sisterhood and Alpha Delta Pi.”
