Ronald McDonald House Charities

Each philanthropy event that Pi chapter hosts supports the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) in Omaha. The Ronald McDonald House is a place that provides complimentary accommodations and meals to families with children receiving treatment in hospitals across the country. There is food and other amenities provided at no cost. Throughout the year, Pi chapter makes it a priority to visit a Ronald McDonald house, normally the Des Moines location, to help with cleaning, cook meals, restock the food pantry, and have meaningful conversations with families. The best part is knowing that each donation assists a family that is experiencing tremendous difficulty, and allows them to focus on the most important part of their day—being with their loved ones.
In 1979, Alpha Delta Pi became the first Greek-lettered organization to partner with a charitable entity when we began our partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities. The mission of the Ronald McDonald House is, “to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children.” Over the past 36 years, Alpha Delta Pi has contributed over $9.2 million to Ronald McDonald House Charities around the world.
Our chapter organizes several events to raise money for Ronald McDonald House every year. Our fall semester fundraiser is a breakfast called Rise and Shine with the First and Fine, and we invite members of the Greek community to 'Pie a Pi' during our spring semester fundraiser, Alpha Delta Pies. In 2018, we introduced a third fundraiser, a silent auction event, A Night out with Ronald.
Live Your Oath
In 2015, Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Phi Epsilon partnered nationally to become the first Greek organizations to start a conversation about sexual assault on college campuses and made a commitment to lead the efforts to put an end to it. At Pi chapter, we join the men of Iowa State's Sigma Phi Epsilon chapter and take an oath to drive this movement forward. We now partner with Sigma Phi Epsilon to do a philanthropic event, Pasta with a Purpose, to raise money, awareness, and pledge to end sexual assault on our campus. The money collected benefits ACCESS (Assault Care Center Extending Shelter & Support).

Max Gruver Foundation
Max Gruver Foundation is a foundation working towards the end of hazing in organizations. Max Gruver was a student at Louisiana State University who died due to hazing from an organization he was involved in. His mother, an Alpha Delta Pi woman, started this foundation in memory of him to raise awareness of how hurtful hazing can be. Alpha Delta Pi has partnered with Phi Delta Theta to raise awareness for this cause by doing tabling events on campus to have students sign oaths not to haze in their organizations.
